£25,000 BOOST FOR EIGHT COMMUNITY GROUPS IN LATEST GRANTS FROM VICTORY HOUSING COMMUNITY FUND
Youth groups, a community centre, a social centre for the blind and a self-help group for older people are amongst eight community groups celebrating after more than £25,000 of community grants were announced for north Norfolk.
£25,905 was handed out in the latest grants round of the Victory Housing Community Fund, bringing the total the Fund has distributed in less than two years to more than £85,000.
A panel of residents, guided by Norfolk Community Fund, which administers the Fund on behalf of Victory Housing Trust, was so impressed with the quality of the bids in the current round that it brought forward extra funding to enable the bumper grant allocation.
The eight organisations benefitting are:
· 1st Mundesley (Air) Scout Group, which receives £5,000 towards the cost of building a new scout headquarters
· The Poppy Centre Trust in Stalham, which receives £5,000 to fund laying the water supply for the new Poppy Centre
· Football In The Community in North Walsham, which receives £4,000 to fund the delivery of free sports, dance and drama activities to teenagers in the town
· EP Youth (The Ekklesia Project) receives £3,866 to fund the running costs of its Streetlife project, which gives young people the opportunity to take part in games and activities, as well as enabling discussions on topics such as health and fitness, bullying, drugs and alcohol in rural areas around Fakenham

Victory Chief Executive John Archibald said, “Our grants panel was so impressed with the quality of the bids we received in this, our fourth grants round, that they asked to bring forward extra funding so that we could give out more grants than we would otherwise have been able to do.
“We are delighted to be able to give substantial grants to eight really good community groups, which are about improving people’s lives, whether it’s young people in villages, or older people who want to keep mentally active through learning. This is exactly why we set up the Victory Housing Community Fund, and we look forward to continuing to help these great grassroots-level organisations in the future.”
