CREA Norfolk CIC was awarded £1,558 from Love Norfolk to run and develop a coding and robotics club for children and young people aged 6-16.
CREA were running a popular online coding club during the Covid-19 pandemic. Funding from Love Norfolk allowed them to purchase six laptops which they could take into the community to run the club in person. Providing in person sessions opened the club to more young people who did not have the equipment needed to be able to attend sessions at home. The new equipment has allowed for CREA to run more in-depth coding sessions, using a broader range of software.
23 young people have attended the coding and robotics club so far, with sessions being held in East Winch, Downham Market and King’s Lynn. All the club participants are home educated for a variety of reasons, including where young people’s special educational needs were not being met in the school environment.
The grant from Love Norfolk has enabled the club to give young people the chance to access a welcoming and inclusive space, learn new skills, build their confidence and make friends with other young people who share an interest in robotics.
